It’s not every day you see a house being moved on the main road through Kavera, but according to Paul Mangakahia of Multi-Contractors, it’s the 180th house move the company has handled on Rarotonga.

The main road was blocked temporarily on Wednesday for around an hour, with traffic being diverted by police inland. Traffic was backed up as far as Muri while they negotiated the load onto the road.

Mangakahia explained that this house had been moved around 15 years ago from a site in town – and has just been uplifted from a property in Turoa, as it begins its journey to a back road behind the golf course in for new owner, Reece Napa.
