More community libraries are planned for Rarotonga after the contribution of a set of bookshelves to the Tupapa Clinic.

Rotary Club Rarotonga’s Greg Amos said it was a joint literacy project between Rotary and the Ministry of Education.

“The shelves were constructed from recycled materials

donated by Cook Islands

Trading Corporation,” he said.

Another set of book shelves is planned for the waiting room at the Rarotonga Hospital.

According to the Ministry of Education this is the first of many community libraries they hope to set up.

The library is stocked with a range of books and magazines to encourage more people into reading and to enjoy while

visiting the Clinic, the Ministry said, made possible with the support of Rotary and Cook Islands Trading Corporation.

More locations for more community libraries are currently being planned. Watch this space for more locations of Community Libraries as they pop up.
