The gala attracted crowds of parents and visitors who were eager to support the school.
The college served a range of delicious local food and desserts. The crowd favourite and on high demand were the umu and barbeque plates selling at $10.
Principal of the Nukuture College Delaney Yaqona said there are two fundraisers they were running concurrently – their bi-annual gala day and the Nukutere monster raffle.
Yaqona said that the money collected from the gala day will contribute to the maintenance and normal operation of the school for the next two years.
He said the monster raffle fundraiser will contribute to bigger projects around the school such as the new fencing.
“It’s been really great; people have been arriving non-stop,” Yaqona said.
He said during the gala day, some of them were having to run to the supermarket to pick up extra food supplies.
St Joseph Primary School students also went to check out the specials, especially the cream doughnuts at the gala day.
