Parents evening tonight at Tereora

Tereora College is inviting all their parents to attend a parents’ evening tonight hosted by the Attitude Education Programme team.

The evening starts at 4pm and will be conducted by Attitude presenters Christian and Tony who have been running a youth education programme with Tereora students.

The presentations in the Tereora Seminar Room will cover an overview of the work they have been doing with students and information for parents on understanding their teenage students.

Topics will include:

• The teenage brain and risk assessments.

• Teen heart – this looks at young people’s self-esteem and their desire to connect with their parents in a meaningful way.

• The teen world – the world of technology and how that is affecting young people.

Meanwhile, the Cook Islands 2018 Maths Quiz is being held next Wednesday evening at the National Auditorium in Avarua.

The competition starts at 5pm and will involves pupils from Years 6 to 10.

The education ministry says: “We have all the primary schools and secondary schools in Rarotonga participating. We also have teams from the Pa Enua; Aitutaki (Vaitau School, Araura Primary, Tekaaroa Adventist School, and Araura College), Mangaia School, Enuamanu School and Mauke School.

“All up we have 20 schools participating in the primary division (Years 6-8) and seven schools in the secondary division (Years 9-10).
