Tourism to host third global breakfast update

Cook Islands Tourism Corporation is hosting their third Global Breakfast Update for 2018/19 on Thursday at 8am at the Edgewater Resort and Spa.

 

The key speakers for this update will include Cook Islands Tourism’s director of destination development Metua Vaiimene, Office of the Prime Minister’s director of central policy and planning Valentino Wichman and the Ministry of Internal Affairs Occupational Safety and Health consultant Andrea Shaw.

Wichman will be updating the industry on how the Cook Islands is tracking on its 15th National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) covering economic, environment, infrastructure, health, education, culture and governance.

Vaiimene will be presenting on the findings of the recent community survey which was distributed to members of the Cook Islands community from September – November 2018. His presentation will broadly cover the sentiments of the community towards tourism development.

He will also be presenting on how Cook Islands Tourism is tracking with the sustainable tourism goals from the Cook Islands Sustainable Tourism Development Policy Framework and Goals which is designed to mirror the approach adopted in the NSDP.

Shaw will be presenting highlights of the draft National Occupational Safety and Health and Employers Liability Insurance Policies which is being led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
