Foreign workers make 10 per cent of workforce

Foreign workers make up under 10 per cent of the workforce and not 20 per cent as reported in a story in CINews last week.

 

The story was about an update on immigration matters presented to tourism industry representatives by Principal Immigration Officer Kairangi Samuela.

In 2016, 462 new work permits were processed and 739 extensions. 

In 2017, 739 new work permits were processed and 822 extensions.

In the period to June 2018, 384 new work permits were processed and 570 extensions. 

A total of 1585 new work permits were approved over two-and-a-half years.
