A capacity crowd filled St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral yesterday morning for a requiem mass for one of the island’s most loved and respected residents, “Mousie” Skews.

The wife of Turama Pacific Travel Group managing director Robert Skews, Mousie, as she was known to one and all, died on Friday, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The mass was conducted by Bishop Paul Donoghue, who paid tribute to her tireless work in the community, her love for other people, and her firmly-held faith in God.

It was a measure of her standing in the community that a huge number of people also attended a family service at the Raro Tours Hanger on Monday evening.

A funeral for Mousie will be held in her home country of Samoa later this week.
