Failing to declare a previous conviction brought Columbian national Luis Felipe Garcia Atehortua a $1000.00 fine when he appeared before Justice Judith Potter in the High Court of the Cook Islands on Tuesday morning.

The public gallery of the High Court was full yesterday when the trial of alleged sexual offender, Andrew Marsters, began before visiting Justice Judith Potter.

Police to inspect WOF issuers

The Cook Islands Police yesterday began and auditing all business operators who have been licensed to issue Warrants of Fitness (WOF) for vehicles since July 2015.

All warrants of fitness that have been issued in Rarotonga since July 2016 are effectively illegal and invalid, claims local business owner and Warrant of Fitness (WOF) committee member Eric Short.
