It’s the officers from the Cook Islands Police Service undertaking firearms training at the Police Firing Range.
Police spokesman Trevor Pitt did not divulge much information but confirmed a training will be conducted today.
“I will be publicising the training primarily in the interests of the inhabitants in the immediate vicinity at Nikao,” Pitt said.
“They ought not to be alarmed by the gunfire, which will be heard as a result of the training at the range.”
A similar training which was part of the ongoing programme of assistance provided by New Zealand Police was held last year. Teams of officers were involved in the training assisted by specialist training personnel from New Zealand Police.
