Man facing a raft of charges

Defence counsel Mark Short has requested an adjournment for a client who faces several charges before the Cook Islands High Court.

His client Johnny Kamikamica appeared before Justice of Peace John Whitta at the High Court last Thursday.

Kamikamica is charged with intent to injure and other charges that include excess breath alcohol, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

“There are a number of court matters against my client and I request for an adjournment because I have just received another charge in December, and just received disclosures,” said Short.

“There is quite a few cases, driving while disqualified, breathalyser, dangerous driving and intent to injure, I understand a knife was used in this matter and I need time, a month should be sufficient.”

JP Whitta said no plea was taken, and as the defendant faces several charges, agreed counsel needed time.

He adjourned the matter to February 28 and bail conditions from previous matters continued.
