Investigations by Police CIB led to the arrest of the youth late Saturday afternoon.
Commissioner of Police Maara Tetava said he is pleased with the outcome of the team’s investigations. “Our detectives have been working hard and very long hours on this investigation and others.
"Because of the age of the young male we are unable to release any other details, but I would like to assure the community this is the start of resolving the spate of fires we have had to deal with.
“This arrest is the culmination of extensive investigations by the CIB and based on early facts this may lead to other recent fires being resolved.
“Police investigations are therefore continuing with vigour and every effort is being made by the team to resolve outstanding cases, and any further threats to the safety of the community.
“They still have a lot more work to do, which includes talking to people who have information on the recent fires, and any other crime.”
The Commissioner is calling on the community to report any small piece of information that may just be the link to help resolve all outstanding investigations into the fires.
“We urge those with information to come forward and tell us. Your information could make the difference and be just the piece of the puzzle that could resolve outstanding investigations.”
