Burglaries on the rise again

Burglary has been identified by police as a major concern that is hurting the economy and the lives of locals, as more properties are broken into.

Police ask for any information leading to the apprehension or identification of perpetrators.

A resident of Arorangi reported on Friday that his home was burgled during the day while he was at work. He arrived home to find a blue As cap, an orange-black-blue Billabong cap and a white-green-yellow Green Bay Packers cap missing, along with perfume and food.

A burglary was reported at the Kia Orana store in Ngatangiia early on Saturday morning, where perfumes were taken.

Thirdly, a resort was burgled overnight between Saturday and Sunday morning. Information received is limited, however, investigations are continuing.

All burglaries are being investigated however no leads were received at time of report to media.

The Raro Fried Chicken precinct was subject to fights during the weekend. On Friday night groups of youth were fighting outside the Raro Fried Chicken after a patron feared for her safety. When the police arrived the youths ran away, however, police were able to catch two youths who are from the village of Nikao. Both have been arrested to appear on Thursday morning at 9am. Investigations are continuing.

A 42-year-old male of Takuvaine was arrested for assault on a female after it was alleged that the male beat up his partner. Injuries were received by the victim, however, investigations are continuing. Alcohol is alleged to be involved in this assault.

    It's no wonder that there are so many motor bikes stolen, everyday I see bikes unattended with their keys dangling from them!

    We have taught our people that its okay to have no respect for the Law or our own civilized dignity ,there is no point looking further than our own reflection when these crimes are committed .Drunked violence and theft ,and then heading to church on the weekend as if butter would not melt in our mouths.
