If you can forgive them the name of their business, the idea behind Raro Fluffy Bums is great.

Former SPCA boss Tony Jamieson and animal care volunteer Aline Roucou have combined their passion for caring for the animals of Rarotonga.

Their new business Raro Fluffy Bums is offering pet-sitting services where they are able to feed and keep an eye on dogs and cats while their owners go on holiday.

“You don’t have to worry about your neighbour forgetting to feed your dog or your cats running away while you are gone,” says Jamieson.

The idea came to them when they were looking to go on a two-month holiday and couldn’t find anyone to look after their two dogs Lester and Max and their two cats Balls and Turtles.

They are also providing dog walking and dog grooming which includes nail cutting, shampooing and brushing. They can identify fleas and worms and recommend proper treatments.

Roucou has worked with the cutest monkeys and kangaroos on her travels but Rarotonga’s dogs are one of her favourites.

She remembers a dog that would bring a bunch of bananas in its mouth and present it to her every time she visited.

She remembers a severely malnourished dog that Jamieson and herself cared for until it was healthy and happy again.

They have looked after a few animals since advertising their services on Facebook, they even looked after one dog for six months. They can check regularly on animals or stay with them at your home.

Pet-sitting starts at $15 per day for up to two animals.
