“Trios”, a cosy island-style bar, located at the original Banana court premises (formerly known as the Garden Bar), opened its doors last Friday.

Owners, husband and wife team, Rio and Tracey Taripo have put in countless hours renovating and re-decorating the premises, keeping the island atmosphere theme in mind, with the intention of providing a relaxed venue for locals, and for musicians to perform.

It’s still a work in progress, but it’s exciting at this stage, says Tracey.

Rio is a passionate musician, well known in the music scene on the island and has performed with the renown Jake Numanga, back in the early days at the Banana Court.

The bar is well ventilated and has ceiling fans throughout, with wooden stools and tables for group catch-ups, if you’re on your own, Tracy and Rio are the perfect hosts.

Trios has a selection of entertainment on throughout the week to offer punters: Monday nights – Live Musicians Jam, this is an open night for singers and musicians on the island to join in; Thursday nights – Karaoke starts at 7pm; Friday nights - Live band with Dominic and Meldon from 6pm and Boogie taking over from 9pm till late; Saturday nights – Live string band starting from 4pm.

Beers, wine and spirits are available, as well as the popular locally brewed Cook Lager jugs for $15.
