Kenny Rogers knew that if you’re gonna play the game boy, you’ve gotta learn to play it right.

Cook Islanders remembered the country music great this weekend, after his death at the age of 81.

A keen tennis player who is listed on the ATP ranking, he played tennis with George Hosking and Ned Howard when he visited.

Rogers was also an “avid game fisherman”, Willie Tuiravakai recalled, and grabbed the opportunity to go out beyond Rarotonga’s reef, when he visited in 1985.

He went on to establish a grilled fish restaurant chain.

Unfortunately he had to cut his trip short as his wife became ill.
