Jamaican-American teen pop icon Sean Kingston sings his hit, ‘We like to sleep all day and party all night! This is how we like to live our life!’

And the 29-year-old lived up to that reputation after flying into Rarotonga yesterday, ahead of tomorrow’s gig at the Hula Bar at the Islander Hotel.

88FM promoted an on-air interview with him. But he didn’t show. The Cook Islands News was tentatively promised an interview. But he didn’t emerge.

If he was a prima donna with the media, though, he still kept his fans happy. Kingston posted a photo of himself arriving yesterday morning, tagged Cook Islands.

“Went through all the pain,” he posted on Instagram, “but still got the BIGGEST HEART EVER! #loveislove”

He marked his post with an image of a coconut palm.

Kingston, who was up early travelling, still found energy

to banter with local fans on Instagram. Asked whether the big silver necklace in the photo was so heavy as to

hurt his neck, he replied: "lol 2 kilos".

Kingston’s grandfather was the noted Jamaican reggae producer Lawrence Lindo, who worked under the stage name Jack Ruby.

Tickets to his gig tomorrow range from $40 for general admission, bought in advance, through to $120 for VIP tickets on the night.
