Senior Structural Engineer: We seek specialist expertise in the structural engineering field to support our projects and property improvement programs. Working closely with our divisional heads, the Senior Structural Engineer will take charge of providing engineering solutions and technical advice, and manage engineering quality assurances across a range of activities. This role requires a qualified civil/structural engineer with working knowledge of NZ/AU standards, practices, and engineering codes.

1.             The Government of the Cook Islands has received financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU), Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) toward the cost of the Renewable Energy Sector Project. This contract will be financed by GCF and ADB will administer the co-financing resources. Procurement rules and procedures of ADB will govern the bidding process. Bidding is open to all Bidders without nationality restriction.

2.             The Office of Prime Minister, Government of Cook Islands (“the Employer”) invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders for the design, construction, installation, integration in the existing power system infrastructure and commission of renewable energy facilities (“the Facilities”) as shown below:

“Power station” battery energy storage system (BESS) for grid stability support

(i)            A BESS to be installed at the Rarotonga Power Station of the electricity utility Te Aponga Uira (TAU), on the island of Rarotonga, and connected to the power station main switchgear and SCADA. The BESS is intended to provide reserve capacity, voltage and frequency control to the Rarotonga grid to enable increasing renewable generation in the grid.

(ii)           The BESS shall provide and include:

•               a fully integrated, modular system, suitable for extended service in local conditions

•               capability to charge and discharge at 3 MW (with overload capacity to 6 MW)

•               usable storage capacity of at least 3 MWh

•               advanced control and grid stability functionality

•               high voltage (11 kV) electrical connection to the grid

•               interface to the TAU SCADA

3.             International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to Bidders without nationality restrictions.

4.             Only eligible bidders with the following key qualifications should participate in this bidding:

•               Minimum average annual turnover of US$8.0M.

•               Minimum financial resources of US$1.0M.

•               Participation in at least one (1) contract that has been successfully or substantially completed within the last five (5) years and that are similar to the proposed contract, where the value of the Bidder’s participation exceeds US$3.2M.

A consultation meeting will be held in the Tapere Pokoinu Community Hall on Wednesday 26 June 2019 at 6.00pm to explain and to seek the views of the residents of the Tapere Pokoinu on a concept plan to develop the old Nikao Social Centre beach front. A representative from the CIIC office will be in attendance to explain the concept plan. A light refreshment will be held at the end of the meeting and everyone is ask to bring what you can. So please everyone is humbly asked to attend this important meeting.

Water Safety will be running a Bronze Medallion course starting Monday1st July.

Course dates and times.

July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.  5pm - 7pm.

Sat 6th.    1-5pm.

8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.     5pm - 7pm

Course fee is $50.

Limited spaces available.

You need to be a good swimmer and preference will be given to those involved in water activities as this is an Internationally recognized Life Saver course.
